First Online Video

For the past few weeks, The Ratchet has been focused on understanding cultural variation in our closest relatives. I believe that analyzing this cultural variation holds the key to understanding the origin of human behaviour and human cultural uniqueness. Theoretically my discipline of evolutionary anthropology has a responsibility to science to make progress in understanding the phenomenon of human culture.

As a result, I also wanted the first animated video content produced by The Advanced Apes to reflect what evolutionary anthropologists have discovered regarding chimpanzee culture and cultural variation. It is my first attempt at creating educational science content in this form.

In the future, I would love to expand on this video and continue to explore the frontiers of evolutionary science. You can check out the video below and the new channel here:

If anyone is interested in getting into online video and want advice, drop me a line. Or if anyone has a lot of experience in online video and have any suggestions, I’m always open to suggestions for improvement.
